Relationship Graph is a graph entry and presentation tool. It can be used to enter data for, and display, any directed graph you can imagine. I wrote this so I could keep track of work projects, topics, teams, people, interested parties, and the relationships between them all - graphs were on the mind and it struck me as a simple way to represent all this.

It can be used for much more though. The descriptive website gives several use case examples.

Ghidra is a software reverse engineering tool, and it employs an intermediate language called PCode. I’ve written a PCode emulation tool which enables mixed static/dynamic software analysis. It still needs a lot of work, but the talk I gave about it at Saintcon 2019 and the tool are over here at GitHub.

Python Course

A few years ago I had the pleasure of teaching a Python Course for programmers - folks who already knew some programming language, and maybe even a little Python. We worked through the syntax quickly, and got on to advanced topics and things they’d need in their very specific day jobs. This was a blast for me - I enjoy teaching folks things, and I enjoy Python, so everything about this was fun. I was invited back a second year, and again the students and I had a great time.

Ranked Choice Voting

I became interested in Ranked Choice Voting several years ago when I realized the most common US voting systems were really underwhelming. I see this most clearly in elections that have several candidates, and I hear it most clearly when folks talk about how they cannot vote for the person they’re most interested in due to the spoiler effect.

Researching other voting methods - Ranked Choice has significant advantages over our current system, addresses lots of issues I see in our system, and is extremely compatible with our legal frameworks. So, I started to try to advocate for it.

Explore Outdoors

Explore Outdoors was a free layer for the Android and iPhone augmented reality app “Layar.” It displayed the names of mountains, lakes, parks, streams and a whole bunch of other good stuff. Explore Outdoors was helpful for those times when you’re sitting on top of a mountain and you wonder about the names of other nearby mountains. There’s an example screenshot of it to the right.

Unfortunately, the Layar app was discontinued, and therefore this layer no longer works. Further, I don’t know of any technology that’s quite like it that’s actively being developed. Layar would request data from a URL endpoint, then display it in context of where you were. It had a great selection system for choosing those URL endpoints, and standardized request and data formats. That’s really all that’s needed to make this work again…

Teach Geography

Teach Geography is intended to be a teacher’s aid for elementary school students. It occurred to me that a lot of adults aren’t very knowledgable about the locations of today’s news. When the news discusses Iran in relation to Iraq and Afghanistan, it’s helpful to understand that they’re right next to each other, and share a huge swath of border. I realized that I’d have a much better knowledge of global geography if I had started at a young age.

Unzip these in the appropriate Counter-Strike folder, or in Counter-Strike’s maps folder, as necessary.

The Global Offensive map downloads are compressed with 7-Zip because they were too big otherwise. You’ll need to download 7-zip to uncompress them.

Counter-Strike: GO Maps

Version 3 of P’s de_museum port - 30 Jun 2013

Ports of classic maps - 10 Feb 2013 Edition

Counter-Strike: Source Maps

de_vegas.zip

othermaps.zip

20May2012Maps.zip

Counter-Strike 1.6 Maps

cs_dune.zip

as_tundra.zip

Assault, Iceworld, Poolparty and ScoutzKnives

Front Porch is an open source Python project which sets up a simple file upload and download server. The client is your webbrowser. FrontPorch uses WebSockets to perform file uploads, and thus gets around several issues with current web-based upload options. It implements its own very basic webserver instead of using Python’s built in server. Check it out at GitHub.

My first daughter, Georgia, and I, made up a silly story the other day after our evening walk. I was inspired to write it out with her and illustrate it. She’s too young to really illustrate it, and I’m a terrible artist, so I leaned heavily on Midjourney… Anyway - here’s the first story. Hopefully we’ll do more of these.

The Fish and The Dog
